Modes

The soli TOC cube is optimized for TOC analysis. The following modes are available:

Solid mode

The solid mode offers TOC, TOC400, TIC, TIC900, TC and ROC determination in solid samples with an autosampler for up to 89 sample positions.
 

TN mode

Simultaneous nitrogen determination with robust electrochemical detection.

Analysis method

True temperature ramping in an oxygenated atmosphere up to 900 °C for TOC400, ROC and TIC900 determination in solids compliant with EN 17505 and DIN 19539. Alternative gas switching for combination of oxidizing and non-oxidizing carrier gases in one course to separate ROC and TIC900. Catalytic combustion for the determination of TOC in solids compliant with EN 15936. Option for simultaneous TN determination with ECD.

Easy sample preparation and handling

Without any special sample preparation, all kinds of solid samples are weighed into steel or ceramic sample crucibles (sample mass up to 3 g).

In accordance with official standards

The soli TOC cube operates in full compliance with all relevant national and international norms or standards such as EN 17505, DIN 19539, EN 15936, ISO 10694, and EN 13137.

Large detection range

From a few ppm up to 100% or 50 mg carbon and 20 mg (0–15%) nitrogen absolute (for the entire temperature ramp).

Fully automated operation

Automated and unattended operation is possible by the integrated 89 autosampler and PC-control through Windows®*. Furthermore, optional 21 CFR Part 11 compliant software is available.

Options

Attachment for TIC-determination in solids soliTIC

Attachment for safe acid digestion of ground solids. Release of the carbonate carbon (TIC) as CO2 for the measurement with the detector of the attached TOC analyzer. Comfortable sample change on permanently installed reactor.

  • Sample amount: up to 5 g
  • Measuring range: 0.5 µg – 100 mg TIC absolute

Nitrogen (TN) determination

Option for simultaneous nitrogen determination with electrochemical detector (ECD).

Control and evaluation unit

PC with hard disk, CD/DVD-ROM drive, Windows® operating system (English), control- and evaluation software soli TOC cube, TFT flat screen monitor, ink jet printer with connection cable.

Helpful tools

Choice of additional helpful tools is available, such as a single standard sample tray for easy handling and organization of solid samples, control standard for proofing the instrument performance, temperature programs with up to five target temperatures, and more.

Unsurpassed measurement flexibility: Adaptable to your analytical needs

  • Optional total nitrogen (TN) determination possible.
  • The analysis of carbon in liquids at a certain concentration level can also be performed.
  • TOC400, ROC, and TIC900 can be determined in one single program. To do so, the different forms of carbon in solids can be distinguished by either temperature programming or a temperature program combined with gas switching. 
  • Alternatively, the classical method of TOC analysis after pre-acidification for TIC removal and drying is also possible.
  • DIN 19539 and EN 15936/ISO 10694 compliant analyses can be performed within only one instrument.
