Large weighing range spanning from micro (< 1 mg) to macro (around 100 mg of soil) applications and up to 60 mg of organic matter.

Precision

Standard deviation (homogenous substance):
< 10 ppm at < 100 ppm element concentration
< 50 ppm at 100 ppm to 0.1 % element concentration
< 0.05 % at 0.1 - 1 % element concentration
< 0.1 % at 1 - 100 % element concentration, depending on sample type

Element concentration range

Wide range of elemental concentrations:
O: up to 6 mg O absolute, 10 ppm – 100 %

Analysis time

4 min* (IR upgrade), 14 min (standard), depending on sample type

Technical specifications

Thermal Conductivity Detector (TCD) (standard configuration):
Oxygen is converted to the target analyte carbon monoxide (CO) via reductive pyrolysis at 1,450 °C. CO is trapped and preconcentrated on a column. While undesired byproduct gases are vented out of the system, the target analyte is swept off the column with clean helium. This guarantees complete separation of the target analyte from undesirable gases prior to TCD detection.

Infrared (IR) detector (optional configuration):
Oxygen is converted to the target analyte carbon monoxide (CO) via reductive pyrolysis at 1,450 °C. CO travels together with byproduct gases directly to the IR detector. In contrast to the TCD, the IR detector only responds to CO. Therefore, the gas separation step is not needed.

Accessories

Electronic balance

Balance and elemental analyzer form a system. We offer analytical balances from the leading manufacturers with our instruments. Please ask us for further information.

Capsule sealing press

Tool for the exact dosing and gas-tight sealing of tin or silver capsules for liquid samples.

Sample former and pressing tools

For simplified sample preparation, we offer a manual tool for compressing samples in tin or silver foil or cups, and a mechanical press for the preparation of pellets with paper wrapping.

Highly reliable analytical results:
Pyrolysis temperature of 1,450 °C

  • The sample’s oxygen is completely converted to the target analyte CO thanks to an extraordinarily high pyrolysis temperature of 1,450 °C.
  • The complete conversion leads to highly accurate, highly precise, and matrix-independent analytical results.
  • Interferences from pyrolysis byproducts are eliminated entirely thanks to gas separation via a column and our patented backflush technology.

LOD of only 10 ppm*:
Powerful IR-detector & blank-free pyrolysis tube

  • A highly sensitive and linear infrared (IR)-detector* enables trace oxygen analysis.
  • The system blank is reduced to an almost non-existent level thanks to innovative sample introduction methods and a blank-free pyrolysis reactor made from glassy carbon.
  • Due to a fast pyrolysis process, even the smallest oxygen concentrations result in nicely shaped peaks, that can be integrated easily by the software.

*optional configuration

Pleasant & easy to work with:
Low-maintenance instrument design

  • Little maintenance thanks to a long-lasting calibration.
  • Fast maintenance due to clearly arranged, easily accessible system components and tool-free clamp connections.
  • Samples can be added to the 120 positions autosampler at any time – even in the middle of an analysis run.
  • Liquid samples can be introduced either via a liquid autosampler* or filled into capsules, which are then introduced via the standard autosampler.

*optional configuration

Tackles challenging samples with ease:
Measure samples with fluorine or inorganic components

  • The glassy carbon pyrolysis tube does not react with fluorinated samples. Whereas traditional pyrolysis tubes made of quartz glass will generate big and irregular blanks, which make oxygen analysis impossible.
  • Thanks to the unusually high pyrolysis temperature of 1,450 °C, even organic-inorganic mixed samples can be digested and analyzed for their oxygen content*.

*optional configuration

Audit-ready: Instrument qualification & 21 CFR Part 11 software option

  • Quick and reliable IQ/OQ/vendor PQ executed by trained service engineers using only certified measuring devices.
  • Easy-to-grasp qualification documents delivered in a binder, to which all appendices are added.
  • All necessary reference materials are supplied.
  • User-friendly 21 CFR Part 11 software option for guaranteed data integrity.
